Packaging Materials convince at the PoS

High impact at the PoS

Commissioned by toy manufacturer Ravensburger the firm Panther Packaging has designed three-dimensional puzzles of world-famous buildings in cardboard. With these miniature architectural replicas the packaging firm from the German land of Schleswig-Holstein especially targets high-impact stagings at the PoS. Thanks to the Easy Click technology used here assembly can do without adhesives while the rugged display elements can be turned by 360° and are therefore visible for observers from all sides. Due to their individual adjustment options these modules are considered especially sales promoting. And shipping is also child’s play: the displays either come with fillers to ensure the required stability or are flat-packed to save space for transportation.

From ping-pong …

Other packaging developers also have their sights on cardboard toys. Lightweight, easy to transport, quick to assemble, for painting on and recyclable – for designers a product of the future. Only wooden slats are enclosed with the ping-pong table, fairy tale castle and VW replicas – for stability reasons. The rest – that is some 70% – consists of nothing but cardboard. To increase the durability of these cardboard castles, ships and the like in future the developers are currently testing bio-degradable varnishes.

… to Minions

Almost a year ago the first Minions products ordered from Amazon in the USA were shipped to customers in garish yellow parcels with the characters printed on them. This double whammy – with both the packaging and content – was great and not just for fans as the companies involved also obtained exposure for their respective brands without additional advertising expenditure.

Toy packaging as collectors’ items

Sphero’s new Star Wars BB-8 Android double pack primarily boasts tactile appeal. A box in a box solution, this packaging arouses curiosity and already rewards addressees with a prime-quality, soft laminate coating for their first touch. Logos featuring modern typography and pictures of the content on both envelopes make both children’s and collectors’ hearts race. And the second box inside also captivates buyers with its high-end, nice-to-touch layout – this packaging will definitely not end up on the waste dump!
