Prize packaging – iF initiates a new packaging design competition to culminate at interpack PROCESSES AND PACKAGING 2008

iF International Forum Design GmbH will launch the first ever “iF packaging award” at interpack PROCESSES AND PACKAGING 2008. The competition is aimed at all the innovative forces in the entire packaging industry – manufacturers, designers and developers of packaging, packaging materials, graphics and packaging machinery. All those interested in participating can submit entries to one or several of the eight different categories, which include various forms of packaging, for instance, sales and transport packaging as well as packaging machines, packaging materials, graphics and construction, from now until 15 December 2007. For an entry to be accepted, it may not be older than three years. In the packaging concepts category, designs that have not yet gone into production or are only available in the form of prototypes may also be submitted.

An independent jury of experts will go through the entries with a fine-tooth comb, basing their evaluations on a comprehensive set of criteria. Among other things, attention will be paid to design quality, ergonomics, choice of materials and the degree of innovation. Particular emphasis will be placed on the focal aspects of the category an entry has been submitted to.

iF gold awards for outstanding design

Winners will receive the much-coveted iF label as a quality seal for the award-winning design. What’s more, outstanding entries will also be crowned with the iF gold award. Up to five contenders can look forward to taking home this design honour. They will be celebrated at a prize-giving ceremony on 24 April 2008 – the opening day of interpack PROCESSES AND PACKAGING. Visitors to the trade fair will be able to size up all of the entries awarded the iF label throughout the trade fair’s run from 24 to 30 April 2008.
