Sidel introduces Combi PET Bottler for beers
20/11/2008
Sidel has announced what it says is the world’s first Combi dedicated to bottling beer in PET. The machine integrates blow moulding, filling and capping functions, and has previously been used for water, carbonated soft drinks and dairy products at speeds of up to 61,000 bph.
The Combi features a hermetically sealed enclosure for packaging hygiene and preservation of the beer’s characteristics during flash pasteurisation. The Eurotronica volumetric FM-LT filler uses a long tube that is inserted almost to the base of the bottle. Once submerged in the beer, filling is turbulence-free and oxygen absorption is reduced. The filler also features CO2 flushing and a high-pressure 'jetting' system that creates a dense foam to replace the air in the headspace up to the top of the bottle rim.
The company says that brewers will benefit from the unit's small footprint, ease of integration and reduced operating costs.
