Value packed program awaits international visitors
Visiting delegations from across Asia expected to visit the exhibition
In the run-up to its inauguration in late April, PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL is shaping up to offer much more than a wealth of the latest technologies, products, innovations and services on show. Road shows and presentations conducted by the organizers in India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines to promote PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL have also borne fruit. Delegations from India, the Philippines and Vietnam are expected to visit the exhibition with more from the region being finalized.
Nguyen Van Dong, President of the Vietnam Printing Association will lead a delegation of approximately 150 members who will visit PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL and tour the Sinsakhon Printing City. “Vietnam imports $50 million worth of printing machinery annually and the industry wants to invest in new technology. Many small printers are not aware of latest technology and our delegation sees the visit to Thailand as a fact finding mission,” commented Nguyen. The Vietnamese printing industry is growing at 20% per annum and currently consumes about 800,000 tonnes of paper per year.
R Udhaya Kumar, Vice President of the Indian Madras Printers’ & Lithographers’ Association, underlined that “with advancement in technology, rapid innovations and the time lag between the new invention and its commercial production getting reduced, trade fairs have become the launching pad for showcasing new products”. The Association will organize a contingent to PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL 2007.
TECHNOLOGY ON SHOW
PACK PRINT INTERNATIONAL will showcase the latest in printing and packaging technology.
Take the FORCEJET sheet-fed ink jet printer from RISO, for example, which can print as at 120 pages per minute in full color at the same cost as black and white on other printers (one Baht per page).
Agfa Graphics will showcase its latest B1-size Thermal Platesetter, along with new features offered in their latest version of ApogeeX prepress workflow & digital plate consumables, and Alterno, a revolutionary powerful Packaging conversion software that reduces ink inventory and press make-ready time, and increases the Printer's competitive advantage by converting different spot colours to Orange, Green or Blue.
Answering to environmental concerns, PMC Label Materials will exhibit a range of water-removable synthetic labels for bottle recycling applications. Typical label removal conditions are within 20 minutes using a 2% caustic soda solution (>pH8.5) at >80ºC for PET/HDPE/BOPP substrates.
Other innovative products include the Muller Martini Pantera Perfect Binder. With its compact design, the Pantera adhesive binder not only provides great flexibility in tight spaces. It now handles PUR adhesives binding, in addition to conventional hotmelt. Perfect binders and gathering lines can be set-up separately for different jobs due to separate servo driven shafts.
In a further technological highlight, Koenig & Bauer (KBA) will demonstrate a five-colour version of the Genius 52 UV small-format sheet-fed offset press. This compact UV press, manufactured by the subsidiary KBA-Metronic AG is designed to print on plastics, lenticular films, board and even papers from 0.1 mm up to 0.8 mm.
