UPAKOVKA / UPAK ITALIA 2008 – Showcase for the Russian packaging sector profits from growing domestic demand
20/07/2007
Demand for western high-tech expertise is undiminished
Parallel to the continuing economic growth in Russia, manufacturers of packaging machinery, confectionary machinery and packaging materials are enjoying an upswing in their sector which has no visible end in sight. The UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA trade fair, which will be held in Moscow from 29 January to 1 February 2008, serves as a showcase for the booming Russian packaging sector.
Boom in Russian demand
The demand of Russian industry for modern packaging machinery and packaging is already immense and is continually on the rise. Substantial contracts will thus be awarded once again at UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, which is the largest, most important and most international exhibition for the packaging market in Russia. On the Russian domestic market, the population’s demand for high quality and hygienically packaged goods is being boosted by rising wages and the resulting general increase in prosperity. This applies for foods just as much as it does for pharmaceuticals, confectionary, cosmetics and beverages. Domestic manufacturers are reacting to the demand and are currently using the simplified loan policies of state-owned banks to modernise their machinery outfit.
Numerous international exhibitors
The 16th UPAKOVKA/ UPAK ITALIA presents the latest range of machinery and equipment for manufacturing packaging, packaging machinery, confectionery machinery, packaging, packaging aids and logistics. Around two-thirds of the exhibition space at UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA will be occupied by companies that are not from Russia. As usual, German and Italian providers will be strongly represented and will each occupy some 2,000 square metres. Regional ventures with official funding will be participating form Germany, France, Italy and Austria. Group ventures from China, Finland, Great Britain, Taiwan and the Czech Republic are also expected.
State-of-the-art infrastructure
The ultra modern Moscow exhibition centre, SAO Expocentr/Krasnaya Presnya, fulfils the high international standards with its exhibition space which covers a total of 70,000 square metres arranged into eight halls. The excellent infrastructure likewise satisfies the requirements of international exhibitors as well as the needs of visitors.
Western providers do not have to do without their usual comfort – thanks to the well-planned organisation of the exhibition company Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and their Russian subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moskau in cooperation with the Italian exhibition company Centrexpo. Offers include, for example, a “complete package” for stand construction: turnkey, tailor-made stands at a fair price. Exhibitors can rely on the competence of Messe Düsseldorf, which has organised more than 4,000 events over the last 50 years.
Held every three years in Düsseldorf, interpack is a successful example for the Russian event and will be celebrating its 50th birthday in 2008. From 24 to 30 April, it will be opening its doors, bigger than ever, to the international packaging world at the exhibition centre by the Rhine.
Powered by Messe Düsseldorf
Messe Düsseldorf is Germany’s leading international trade fair company. With around 80 exhibitions and trade fair participations every year, especially in the Russian Federation, the company ensures that providers can present their products throughout the world. The significantly improved investment climate in Russian and the surrounding regions renders a trade fair for packaging indispensable - and ensures its successful running. The fact that UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA is once again taking place parallel to INTERPLASTICA secures a high level of attendance. The international trade exhibition for plastics and rubber ideally complements the range that is offered to the packaging world and is an offshoot of the world’s largest and most renowned K trade fair (plastics and rubber trade fair) which will be completely filling 19 exhibition halls in Düsseldorf from 24 to 31 October 2007.
As a further point of interest, the extensive range offered by international exhibitors in the Moscow halls will be complemented by an attractive framework programme. Two seminar days with discussions and presentations by international experts will be staged in the ultra modern conference rooms. The possibility for school pupils and students to find out about packaging technology and new trends has been particularly well-received at past trade fairs. Special “Info Points” ensure that packaging questions can be quickly, competently and individually answered at the trade fair. The information provided is complemented by a job exchange and contact point for international business relations. The organisers are once again expecting over 20,000 trade visitors to UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA and INTERPLASTICA in 2008.
