IMA GIANT 1 - INTEGRATED BLISTER LINE
15.02.2008

Don’t miss the new Giant1 integrated blister line
equipped with the new Touch&Change

Among the novelties on show at the IMA stand, is the Giant1, the new integrated blister line equipped with the Touch&Change (Small Format Adjustment Drive), the new system supplied by Sick-Stegmann in cooperation with IMA.

Designed for both multinational pharmaceutical companies as well as contract packers, the Giant1 can be considered a perfect alternative for just-in-time production of small and medium batches (up to 350 blisters/minute and 175 cartons/minute).
The machine concept has been based on the IMA philosophy of flexibility in operation and changeover combined with easy cleaning and less material/product waste. This has been achieved thanks to reliable feeding systems where IMA has had 30 years experience and a careful functional design in the main working groups that are completely servomotor assisted. High efficiency in production is assured as the blister machine and the cartoner are completely integrated.

Change over times on the Giant1 have been reduced to unprecedented levels thanks to a limited number of size parts, which have been specifically designed to decrease their size and weight. In the time it takes to changeover any super-high speed machine, the Giant1 will have already completed 3 or more batches.

By implementing the new Touch&Change system onto the Giant1 or another blister line, the adjustments related to the change over can be done automatically via the touch-screen operators interface by simply pressing one button. Thanks to the Touch&Change system the change over becomes much more fast and easy and we can guarantee no mistakes.

With the Giant1, IMA confirms once again to be the global supplier in blister packaging, which offers a variety of reliable solutions for every output requirements (from low to extremely high speed - up to 1,300 blisters/minute), with or without integrated cartoners.

IMA CA3
08.02.2008

Don’t miss the new IMA CA3
for the packaging of coffee in both soft and hard pods

Welcoming you to
Hall 16 - Stand D13-E16

Among the new machines on show at the IMA stand at Interpack 2008, is the CA3 for the packaging of coffee in both soft and hard pods.

The new IMA CA3 is a monobloc machine capable of packing, in a modified and conditioned atmosphere, both soft and hard pods containing coffee, heatsealing them in a protective outer envelope and finally packing them into cartons at a production speed of 250 pods per minute.

IMA has designed and manufactured the new CA3 according to the highest efficiency criteria and, in particular, to an extreme flexibility while guaranteeing the best product quality on the market.

The new CA3, in fact, allows the production of soft pods for the typical “American” coffee and hard pods for the traditional Espresso.

Thanks to an advanced system for coffee dosing and compression, a homogeneous coffee distribution inside the pod and a great precision of its profile are guaranteed.

The whole pod production cycle until its packaging into the heatsealed outer envelope is carried out in a modified and conditioned atmosphere due to a constantly controlled introduction of nitrogen into a protective hood, where humidity and temperature are kept unvaried to guarantee the best product quality. Furthermore, the product quality is guaranteed thanks to a heatsealed outer envelope that represents the greatest protection against product oxidization. The integrated group allows the wrapping of a single pod into a three or four sided heatsealed envelope.

The machine production cycle is then completed by an integrated, fully automatic, accessible and adjustable cartoning unit. The carton and count size change over can be performed easily and quickly, especially thanks to the electronic count.

The modular system on which the new CA3 design is based, is most evident in the easy connection with end of line packaging machines as alternative to the cartoning attachment. For example, the CA3 can be easily connected to a machine for the packaging of pods (with or without outer envelope) in “stand-up bags”, or, random, but counted, into a carton or bag.

The whole production cycle is controlled and handled by an integrated PC that guarantees the correct machine operation and above all the final product quality.

IMA HERMETICA
08.04.2008

Among the novelties on show at the IMA stand, is the Hermetica a capsule banding machine for tamper evident sealing of capsules filled with liquids, but also with powders or other products.
The banding is achieved through the application of a ring of liquid gelatine on the external surface of the capsule. The machine balcony structure, the position of the capsule feeding unit and the exit chute allow good accessibility and easy operations.
The two gelatine bowls are separated and independently controlled. A double gelatine band is applied by the two rollers with independent speed regulation, so that any air bubble of unevenness in the first band is overcome by the second application.
A pre-drying unit guarantees a fast fixing of the gelatine band before the capsule is transferred in the drying box for final drying.
Size change-over is very quick and easy: both sealing and drying transport plates contain a double row of capsules, thus reducing the number of pieces to be changed and cleaned.
A 100% checking system through camera can be additionally fitted, to control and select each individual banded capsule.
Gelatine temperature and viscosity can be adjusted independently in each bowl.

IMA PERFIMA
09.04.2008

The new PERFIMA is a perforated pan for tablet coating allowing a high flexibility and reliability. The shape of the pan combined with the mixing baffles position ensure a perfect mixing of the cores and a uniform distribution of the coating material. The machine can work a wide range of batches: from 25% to 100% of the pan capacity, and the mixing capability is maintained in case of working with a minimum or a maximum quantity of product. Additionally position and dimensions of the outlet air duct allow a uniform drying of the product, thus saving energy. The spray guns are fitted on a sliding support arm and can be positioned and adjusted from the external part of the machine. Thanks to special seals the machine is completely isolated and can be therefore fitted with a completely automatic Clean In Place system: nozzles and spray balls covers all areas of the machine and are always in position. Accessibility is very good thanks to the front and side doors fitted on the machine. A “through the wall” installation is possible. PERFIMA is available in three models: Perfima 200, Perfima 500 (on show at Interpack 2008) and Perfima 800.

KILIAN SYNTHESIS 700 WIP
04.03.2008

Among the novelties on show at the IMA stand, is the KILIAN Synthesis 700 WIP, the new rotary tablet press with Wash In Place capability, that has been designed to satisfy the always increasing demand of automatic cleaning systems and operator protection.

The process area is completely isolated from the mechanical area through the use of Viton seals to separate the die table from the cover segment and from the lower machine part. Additionally a silicone band isolates the die fixing screws while rubber bellows seals protect the punches, thus avoiding contamination and limiting the area in contact with the product. Spray nozzles are located in each part of the process area and also inside the aspiration system: this guarantees to completely wash all parts of the working area. The use of water is limited to the process area avoiding the contamination of the mechanical area with water or product. Only a minimum quantity of water is needed for the washing.
