Wrapping and strapping of paper in sheet sizes

In the paper factory the ready for shipment pallet loads mostly consist of a number of packaging units of 200 to 500 sheets of the same dimensions so-called reams. If remnants are not stored at the printers, several thousand sheets are directly stacked on a pallet without the necessity of wrapping reams. The average weight of pallets is about 700 kg, the maximum weight is about 1200 kg.

In order to maintain an equilibrium of humidity content in the paper and to protect it against dirt and dust, every pallet load is wrapped, even if the single reams have been wrapped before. Until now moisture-resistant PE coated paper was used for this purpose, but as these papers consist of various different materials the cost of disposal is very high. Manual paper wrapping means high wage costs. The best solution is PE stretch film, it is pure, economical and easily wrapped around the load with an automatic pallet stretcher.

Pallet loads are additionally strapped fully-automatically, under compression, to enable the air between the layers to escape. PET strap replaced steel straps used in the past.
