Pigments, Dyes, Masterbatches, Resins, Preparations
BASF offers the packaging industry a variety of waxes, pigments, dye stuffs, resins and the corresponding masterbatches. These BASF products enable our clients to print packaging of all kinds such as folding boxes or drink cans from an enormous variety of materials. On the other hand, colorants are also used to directly color the plastic used. Solid colored plastic or flexible plastics for the packaging sector can be produced in this way. Irrespective of whether it is printing or mass coloration, BASF provides the raw material for the production of high value packaging:

Adhesive Raw Materials
Adhesive raw materials from BASF should hold together what needs to be together - also in the packaging industry. There is a great variety of possible uses in this sector, like laminating, sealing, bonding of different materials or the labeling (wet or pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA)). Sealants
Sealing and barrier properties are required in food packaging in order to protect the goods from the external influence of humidity and air. On the other hand some foods like e.g. cheese must be prevented from humidity loss. These requirements can be easily fulfilled when the BASF product Oppanol® is incorporated in films or in layers of the package. Oppanol® shows excellent barrier properties against water vapor and gases. Its very good adhesion properties to various surfaces like plastics, glass and metal additionally support the use of Oppanol® in sealing applications.

Plastics flexible
BASF offers the raw materials of flexible packaging. As such BASF is one of the leading producers of polyamides, which are used in a variety of films as a result of their barrier properties, high mechanical strength, temperature and chemical resistance.

Plastics rigid
Rigid plastic packaging includes cups, bottles, pots and cans and also closures. This rigid packaging material can be used in any packaging related application. From high value-add closures and caps for the cosmetic sector to apparently simple containers for yogurt, the applications of rigid packaging material are wide and varied. The production possibilities are just as varied and extensive as their areas of application. In order to guarantee an optimal production process, each procedure, whether it be injection molding, thermoforming, blow molding or injection blow molding, requires a specially approved raw material.
