M∙VERA® film grades

The M∙VERA® B series consists of versatile compostable film compounds from BIO-FED. It is designed for the film market where industrial composting is an end-of-life option. M∙VERA® can be easily processed on conventional blown film extrusion equipment due to their excellent melt strength. These products are suitable for use in coextruded films and blends.

All grades were developed to meet current compostability standards. Vinçotte “OK compost” (EN 13432) was granted for all products and BPI certification (ASTM D6400) was granted for M∙VERA® B5010 and B5012.

Applications
M∙VERA® film products are perfect for the manufacture of retail bags, mulch film, organic and garden waste collection bags, industrial can liners, labels and others.

M∙VERA® injection moulding grades

The M∙VERA® GP1000 series consists of a range of semicrystalline, biodegradable polyester grades, with excellent processing performance on conventional injection moulding machines. The series can be used as a biodegradable alternative for PP, PE, PS or ABS components.

All grades were developed to meet current compostability standards and a Vinçotte “OK compost” (EN 13432) certification was granted.

Applications
Ideal for flexible injection moulding applications that benefit from biodegradability as a performance factor, such as coffee capsules, caps, cutlery, cable ties, plant clips, beach toys, etc.

- Compostable (depending on the grade)
- Performance extends to low and high temperature (- 30 ˚C to 80 ˚C)
- High toughness and flexibility

Masterbatches

In close cooperation with AF-COLOR, another branch of AKRO-PLASTIC, we can offer a wide range of masterbatches based on various carrier polymers:

- AF-Eco®: Biodegradable color and carbon black masterbatches certified in accordance with EN 13432
- AF-Eco®: Biodegradable additive masterbatches, customised and certified in accordance with EN 13432 upon request
- AF-Color®: Conventional color concentrates
- AF Carbon®: Black color concentrates based on carbon black or dyes
- AF-Complex®: Additive concentrates such as UV stabilizers, odor absorbers, processing aids and other tailor-made formulations

BIO-FED is an expert in the development, compounding and marketing of biodegradable and/or biobased plastics under the brand name M·VERA®.

BIO-FED came into being through the acquisition of parts of the bioplastics division of a US-American biotechnology company by AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH.
 
BIO-FED is a specialist for innovative and application-oriented biopolymer compounds. Depending on the requirements profile, these compounds are
- biodegradable in various environments, or suitable for long-term use
- either completely or partially made from renewable raw materials.

As a branch of AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, BIO-FED belongs to the Feddersen Group. The head office of BIO-FED is in Cologne – on the grounds of the BioCampus Cologne, one of the largest biotechnology parks in Germany.

BIO-FED uses the production and laboratory facilities of AKRO-PLASTIC, and cooperates closely AF-COLOR, another branch of AKRO-PLASTIC, in the development and marketing of biopolymer-based color and additive masterbatches. AKRO-PLASTIC and AF-COLOR are based in Niederzissen, Germany.
