Lightweight and portable ink jet printer opens technology to more businesses

Linx Printing Technologies is breaking new ground in the coding and marking industry with the launch of a compact and totally portable printer capable of delivering quality date and batch codes.

Linx says that its new Linx 10 will particularly appeal to smaller businesses that need to code products for the first time or whose potential for business growth is hampered by the use of less flexible, manual coding methods such as print and apply labelling, stamping or hand applied labels.  Manual coding methods can restrict a business’s ability to increase production rates to meet demand, while many retail customers require higher quality, permanent codes which must be contained within a small space.

In addition, the Linx 10 has a lot to offer experienced ink jet users, as its portability means it can be moved quickly by a single operator and set up wherever required.  Its compact dimensions also allow for integration into packing lines where space is at a premium.

The Linx 10, at just 11kgs, is around half the weight and footprint of other ink jet printers and features a carry handle and printhead dock to make moving the printer as simple and safe as possible. Its compact size also means the printer can be mounted directly onto a conveyor or production line saving even more space.  At just 53cm wide and 19cm deep, it can be placed exactly where needed on the line, while its sturdy stainless steel construction ensures that print performance and quality are unaffected by production line vibrations. In addition, the Linx 10 comes with an IP55-rating as standard, ensuring reliable and consistent operation in washdown environments.

The new printer’s versatility is further enhanced through the availability of its own unique ketone-free fluid, suitable for a wide range of packaging substrates and production environments.  This fluid offers excellent adhesion, fast drying times and comes in simple spill-free refill cartridges. This gives end users the flexibility to service the printer themselves without the need for a service engineer to attend, minimising costs and maximising uptime.

The Linx 10 also utilises technology proven on more sophisticated Linx CIJ solutions, including fast and easy message setup via a colour touch screen that includes image-based code selection to reduce coding errors and speed up product changeovers.

Unique to a printer of its size is a fully integrated automatic line speed sensor. This eliminates the need for a separate sensor mounted to the line or a product detector, making setup and moving between production lines even easier.  The line speed sensor assesses the speed of a line or conveyor and adjusts the speed of delivery of the code to match. This ensures that codes are printed in the right place at the right time, regardless of line speed fluctuations, thereby further protecting your brand and profit margins.
