Ukrplastic won in the “Social and Environmental Company of the Year” nomination in the annual All-Ukrainian Ecological Competition held with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

The expert committee, including representatives of public organizations, the Ministry of Environment, the State Environmental Inspectorate and journalists, conducted a rigorous selection among all companies demonstrating high performance and product quality, while making systematic efforts to improve the environmental aspects of their activities, and that achieved significant results in this area.

Traditionally, UKRPLASTIC is a company with a high level of social and environmental responsibility. The company has implemented environmental management system; it regularly proves that its manufacturing process and products comply with the international standards ISO 14001:2004 (environment), ISO 22000:2005 (safety) and ISO 9001:2008 (quality).

Flexible packaging materials manufactured by the company do not contain chlorine and when recycling do not emit toxic substances. They contain less residual solvents than that of in most Western European and American manufacturers. This makes materials safe for the human body and the environment.

Since 2010, the company has been implementing a program to improve environmental standards and energy efficiency, development of new technologies in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This year, UKRPLASTIC joined the international environmental initiative of chemical manufacturers “Responsible Care”, which is coordinated by the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA).

“If all businesses reach the same level of social and environmental responsibility, environmental problems will be solved both at the enterprises and in the regions, where these enterprises are located,” Oleg Proskuryakov, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, said, handing over the diploma and the commemorative sign to company’s representatives.
