(Manteno, IL – March 2014) Zip-Pak (www.zippak.com), a global supplier of resealable flexible packaging, has announced the appointment of Joachim Schwing as European Director of Sales. Schwing will have responsibility for managing Zip-Pak’s European sales team as well as Zip-Pak’s European and Middle Eastern agent network.

Schwing brings an extensive background in both sales management and packaging to Zip-Pak’s team. Before joining the company, he spent 10 years with Sonoco, a global provider of consumer packaging. His most recent positions included Segment Director for Sonoco’s European Paper Mill Core business, and Regional Sales Director for Central Europe. Earlier in his career, Schwing spent over 10 years with 3M Company in a number of commercial roles of increasing responsibility.

As European Director of Sales for Zip-Pak, Schwing will be responsible for day-to-day sales management and will also participate in commercial strategy development for the dynamic resealable solutions company. He will report to Art Malcomson, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are delighted to have someone of Joachim’s extensive and considerable background join our team and help lead our efforts in Europe and the Middle East,” Malcomson commented upon Schwing’s appointment. “His successful career and track record to date speaks for itself.”

A graduate of Rudolf-Diesel-Fachschule in Nürnberg with a certification in Graphic Arts Engineering, Schwing will be based near Würzburg in the Bavarian section of central Germany. “Zip-Pack has a great reputation in the packaging business and with good reason,” Schwing commented. “I’m delighted to be joining such a capable team, and I look forward to contributing to our continued success in Europe.”
