Frustration-free under the Christmas tree
Whether the family can spend the holiday season without any frustrations under the Christmas tree depends – as experience shows – on a variety of parameters. The charred turkey may cause as much frustration as the right seating plan around the table, the choice of music played or the wrong presents selected for the in-laws for the umpteenth time. To avoid any further, avoidable risks of frustration during the merriest time of the year, the packaging industry has developed so-called “frustration-free” packaging to make unwrapping especially easy.
Opening the easy way
This convenience-compliant packaging goes down well with retail. For 10 years now, online mail-order company Amazon has already used this low-frustration packaging for selected product segments. It foregoes plastic tapes, cording and other hard to separate materials – to make opening less effort for shoppers and to produce less waste for the environment.
However, not all shoppers appreciate these efforts: they complain about too little packaging material. The “unwrapping effect” is gone, they say, and with it the thrill of opening a crate, box or carton. This, however, is an extreme that can be avoided. After all, Amazon also always offers a gift option for its own goods, or alternatively, shipping the goods in a special Amazon Box.
