PACRAFT shows latest innovations on pouch packaging and in-line seal inspection at Interpack 2023

At the international Interpack exhibition (Düsseldorf, May 4-10), PACRAFT presents three fully automatic pouch filling and packaging solutions using easy-to-recycle packaging materials. PACRAFT - formerly known as Toyo Jidoki - also demonstrates in-line, 100 % seal inspection technologies from Engilico which became part of PACRAFT in 2021.

A major highlight in the PACRAFT booth is the fully-automated, high-speed TT-10CWS for packaging aluminum-free, retort pouches. The TT-10CWS seamlessly handles the filling and vacuum processing of pre-made pouches at stunning speeds up to 125 pouches per minute. This packaging machine aims at packaging retort products such as wet pet food, ready meals, sauces and many more. At Interpack, the system is demonstrated with a CF-75 cup filling machine.

For packaging dry foods at high speeds, PACRAFT presents the TT8-DW-N duplex filling and packaging machine. This dual-lane pouch packaging handles frozen foods, pet food, snacks in pouches up to 3kg at a speed of 80 bags/minute. As environmental concerns such as plastic waste reduction and recycling are important today, all of PACRAFT’s packaging solutions are demonstrated with either easy-to-recycle, mono-material or aluminum-free packaging materials.

The third packaging solution is the TT-8A2 for handling dry products in bags up to 5kg. The TT-8A2 is demonstrated with the innovative SealScope® in-line seal solution from Engilico. SealScope® is an easy-to-integrate and non-destructive in-line seal inspection and process monitoring technology.  Via sensors that are mounted on the sealing jaws, SealScope® detects product in seal, wrinkles, and tapered seals. It also issues early warnings for process drifts enabling preventive machine maintenance. Worldwide, companies in the food, pet care and other industries where sealing is a critical process are using SealScope® to enhance their outgoing packaging quality, improve their packaging productivity and reduce their packaging cost.

In the range of automated seal inspection, PACRAFT also presents HyperScope®, Engilico’s award-winning seal inspection solution for rigid trays, pots and thermoformed packaging. HyperScope® uses hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and artificial intelligence image processing technology to detect contamination in the seal of plastic or cardboard trays, with a much higher contrast than standard vision cameras. Even when using opaque or printed plastic foils - when contamination is hardly visible for traditional vision-based systems- seal contamination can be detected by a hyperspectral camera. Typical applications are in-line inspection of trays or pots with meat, fish, cheese, vegetables, etc.
