Pouring made easy - Muesli and snack packing with re-sealable sides
We all know the problem: in the morning the muesli packet delivers either too little or too much or you inadvertently cook rice for an extended family because the bag slipped out of your hand.
But there is hope: Last year designer Alan D. Olin filed a patent for a re-sealable packet that provides users with long product durability and – above all – more control for dosing.
The trick is that the opening, which can be re-sealed with a classic pressure cap, is not located at the upper edge as usual but on the side – a fact that eases pouring substantially. The shape and size of the Easy Pour Bag can be determined individually by manufacturers. By Olin’s account, a size of approx. 40 x 30 cm is ideal.

Sustainable without outer box
Convenient handling for consumers is not the only advantage this type of packaging offers. Companies also benefit from the lower material consumption and the reduced weight due to the outer box being rendered superfluous – a fact that also benefits the environment.

Regardless of the product to be packaged, Olin’s idea for the ideal Easy Pour Bag is to produce it from recyclable material. As a sustainable, consumer-friendly packaging alternative that can be versioned in line with companies’ interests, the patent for the Easy Pour Bag is still pending and will hopefully delight us soon on our breakfast table and snack shelves in retail.
