Hailing from the USA this hype has infected nearly the whole globe. You can’t ignore Halloween – unless you walk through retail stores with your eyes shut even weeks before 31 October.
For the feast of horrors numerous brands present their products in a matching creepy look; some of them even come with added features. A case in point: the special Fanta edition for the German market. This year it not only boasts special Halloween designs by London-based artist Noma Bar but also a Snapchat code on the packaging allowing you to download creepy filters and lenses from the popular photo channel. As for the launch of the new Fanta bottle in a spiral look this Snapchat campaign was accompanied by catchy commercials produced by Web video producer Julien Bam and musician Rezo, an out-of-home campaign and social media activities.

What would Halloween be without sweets? This year treats in matching “outfits” come care of the brands Hershey’s, KitKat and Resse’s, to name but a few. The logo glows in the dark like poisonous frog soup on all their packaged bars.
For the first time in company history Nestlé UK will introduce a proper Halloween product to the market – under a different name. The round chocolate candies will be called “Scaries” for Halloween. The outside of the candies will come in the matching orange and brown shades. The packaging is printed with a ghost, scary castle and bats.

The Dove chocolate candies look somewhat more exquisite. All three flavours (Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate & Caramel Pumpkins) are graced with an inconspicuous pumpkin in subdued orange, yellow and green shades – a perfect give-away for the not so young generation at Halloween parties.

Sweet goes with...? Yes, correct: savoury. Not everyone fancies celebrating Halloween in a permanent sugar shock. In the US fans of savoury horror snacks can get their treat at the fast-food chain McDonalds after “tricking or treating” and horror parties. Until 31 October the packaging of Burgers, fries and the like is decorated with bats to support the Halloween prize draw “Trick. Treat. Win!”
