A bed made of paper: will this be strong enough?

Bedded on cardboard. Entering a bedding store you would usually find bed frames made of wood, fabric or metal. Beds made of cardboard, however, are rather a rare sight – although this raw material not only offers sustainability but also especially high stability. Relying on a special “mouth-organ” type technique Room in a Box beds can carry up to 1,000 kg per square metre and are available in various sizes. A load-bearing test has clearly shown: even 25 people jumping up and down cannot do any harm to this corrugated board bed.

For shipping the cardboard support frame is simply folded up and therefore requires little space for transport. In addition to this, the lightweight cardboard saves petrol and the additional castors make transporting the beds from A to B child’s play even on stiletto heels.

Speaking of child’s play: cardboard is not only perfectly suited for sleeping on but also an unbeatably low-cost alternative to wood for shelving, tables, stool and chairs.
