Safecompost, The Biodegradable Packaging Material by Safepack, Bags World Star Award 2013

Safepack Industries India, a specialty packaging group, has been recently awarded with World Star Packaging Award 2013. Safepack received this award for its biodegradable packaging material called Safecompost, which is a bio-polymer coated paper/board. The product was launched around 3 years back and now it has been recognised as one of the best in the industry.

The World Star Award is conferred by the World Packaging Organization, which illustrates the continual advancement of the state of packaging design and technology. The award selection goes through a stringent selection process. An expert panel of judges evaluates the award winners of various national and regional competitions around the world and select the awardee from that. Awards are based on the judges' consensus that a pack is superior in its category and is better in its class in execution or innovation as compared to others.

Safepack’s Safecompost bio-polymer coating is a tailor-made polymer offering humidity, oxygen and grease barriers and sealability. Biopolymers used are based on raw materials that come from natural crops or from fossil sources, or combinations of these. This packaging material is easily compostable in nature if disposed in open and does not accumulate as a waste. Applications of Safecompost include portion packs for salt, sugar, pepper, tea, etc., disposable beverage cups for hot and cold drinks, paper wraps for ice creams, etc.
