Mondi ColdSealPack® – Self-sealing packaging solution to be launched at Interpack
At the forthcoming Interpack fair, Mondi Release Liner is showcasing a packaging solution that offers compelling benefits to both industry and consumers.
The ColdSealPack® is produced by the company’s functional coating department. It is a cold-seal packaging solution capable of wrapping or sealing products without tape or an extra adhesive. ColdSealPack® is an unbleached kraft paper coated with a cold seal adhesive that sticks to itself by forming a strong bond at room temperature when pressed together.
This packaging solution is especially interesting for industrial applications, such as the efficient and safe packaging of single components and spare parts in the furniture or automobile industry. Apart from the packaging function, ColdSealPack® also offers optimal surface protection. Beyond industrial applications, the cold seal packaging solution also embraces clear customer benefits: books, magazines, CDs/DVDs and toys can be wrapped and mailed with superior protection while reducing material consumption and dispensing with void filling. Alongside its use as wrapping paper, ColdSealPack® can also be converted into corrugated material and used for quick packaging, typically in e-commerce. Mondi’s cold seal packaging solution is very user-friendly, saving not only material, but also time. Neither scissors nor a knife is needed to unpack an item wrapped in ColdSealPack®.
As regards environmental credentials, ColdSealPack® offers numerous benefits. Consisting solely of paper, its disposal for recycling could hardly be easier. The cold seal adhesive, whose strength can be adapted upon customer request, consists of natural latex that does not deposit any sticky residues on other materials. “We are very excited to be exhibiting at this year’s Interpack,” says Jurgen van der Donck, Sales & Marketing Director Release Liner. “With our speciality approach, we not only offer classic siliconised release liners, but also develop special coatings such as this one that is now being adopted by the packaging industry.”
In order to show the complete release liner product portfolio to visitors during the exhibition, Mondi Release Liner is hosting a Welcome Day for customers and interested individuals on 13 May in its nearby plant in Jülich. Experienced employees will be on hand to explain common technical terms and talk about the raw materials, the construction of release liners and their applications to newcomers to the self-adhesive sector as well as industry outsiders. Registrations for the Welcome Day are being accepted at release.liner@mondigroup.com. Attendees will receive an entrance voucher for the Interpack exhibition.
Interpack, one of the leading packaging fairs in Europe, takes place in Düsseldorf from 8 to 14 May 2014. Mondi Release Liner will be exhibiting at the Interpack for the first time, occupying its own section of the Mondi booth in hall 9 (A24 / B23).
