Clemson University and dvi Present Certified Online Courses for Packaging Industry Professionals

Marketing, logistics, sustainability and more: Demands on professionals in the packaging industry are rising, whether in Germany, the United States or the rest of the world – and this is exactly where the dvi Packaging Academy’s new partnership aims to provide professional knowledge and expertise. In collaboration with Clemson University in South Carolina, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) in Berlin is launching the certified web-based training course Packaging School.

The new joint Packaging School online seminar is designed for both newcomers and seasoned professionals in the packaging industry who want to deepen or expand their knowledge in a targeted way. The program consists of eleven topic-specific modules, which can either be ecompleted individually or as a full course. The content in the modules spans a wide range of topics from the packaging industry – from packaging fundamentals, materials, design, and printing technologies to sustainability, regulation, automation, and sales.

“The courses employ a well-balanced mix of videos, PDFs, text-based workbooks, and multimedia presentations to deliver knowledge and assess learning progress,” explains dvi Managing Director Natalie Brandenburg. Each module takes approximately four to eight hours to complete.

The course is delivered in English. As Brandenburg points out: “This not only makes the program accessible to nearly all employees within a company, but also helps participants strengthen their technical English skills as an added benefit.” In an industry that is increasingly globalized, proficiency in English is crucial for effective communication across multinational teams, suppliers, and clients. By working through the industry-specific modules and engaging with up-to-date terminology, participants gain the language skills necessary to interpret international packaging regulations, understand emerging technologies, and stay informed on sustainability practices worldwide.

Participants who complete the full course have the opportunity to earn an additional Certificate of Packaging Science – a recognized credential that demonstrates in-depth industry expertise at an international level. This certificate serves as tangible proof of specialized knowledge in both contemporary packaging technologies and sustainable solutions, which are increasingly essential for leadership roles within the packaging sector.
