A high-level jury comprising representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) carefully reviewed the submissions and prepared the awards ceremony.
The award ceremony took place during the SAVE FOOD Expert Talks, where the winners of the SAVE FOOD Design Awards and the Sustainability Design Awards were honored at interpack 2026.
SAVE FOOD Design Awards
The winners of the SAVE FOOD Design Awards 2026 were Grupolantero / LANINVER, Greiner Packaging, and Innoscentia. Their award-winning solutions addressed different stages of the value chain – from improving the protection of sensitive products and extending shelf life to reducing food spoilage through innovative packaging concepts and technologies. In doing so, they contributed to the targeted reduction of food losses during handling, transport, and consumption.
Sustainability Design Awards
The Sustainability Design Awards recognized ALFA MACHINE Kourtoglou, IRPLAST, and AeroFlexx Packaging Company for their innovative packaging solutions. The focus was on concepts that reduced material consumption and environmental impact without compromising functionality. Among the award-winning innovations were resource-efficient packaging systems, recyclable materials, and forward-looking approaches to flexible packaging that successfully combined ecological and economic considerations.
Through these awards, the SAVE FOOD Initiative reaffirmed its role as an international platform for innovation and collaboration. The awarded projects and solutions demonstrated that reducing food losses can only succeed through the interaction of packaging, processing, logistics, and new business models.
