Osman Vedat Gençtürk, who started working in a small shop producing and selling cologne and essence in Ankara at the age of 13 with his father, worked both in trade and various businesses between 1938 and 1950.In the beginning of 1950s,he started production of cosmetics with the license of France Coty Cosmetics Company (under the firm Gültaş). After that, he quit the production of cosmetics and produced the first “Blueprint Paper” in Turkey with the license of “Oce Netherland BV” with Netherlands origin. This production continued until the year 1986.
Vedat Gençtürk, who is a business man having contributed to economy and industry of Turkey during his life, initiated the production of photography printing paper and x-ray film at the address of İstanbul, Tophane, Lüleci Hendek Caddesi under the name “Vedat Gençtürk Heliographique Paper Mill” for the first time in Turkey. In the year 1963, he started his production trials and works of self adhesive paper and tapes for the first time in Turkey at the same address as well.
He moved his facilities, which are in İstanbul Tophane, to the mill, constructed in the new land in Istanbul Küçükçekmece Sefaköy in the year 1965. Starting from the year 1968, parallel to the developments in Turkey, he added production of solvent based, self adhesive products to his current production line.
In the early 1971, label and flexo printing machines were put into use. Starting from the year 1973, production of paper with physical reaction, self copying with the title “Ve-Ge” and registered brand “Self Copy”; on the other hand, starting from the year 1978, Hotmelt and water-based adhesives and silicon application techniques were applied.
In the year 1981, production of “Carbonless Paper”, the first chemical reaction and self copying paper in Turkey, started. Subsequently, production of thermal and fax paper has been made.
Osman Vedat Gençtürk, passed away on 25 May 1992.
At the end of 1992, Ve-Ge started the productions of high-grade pulp paper, copy and fax paper under the brand “Copier Bond” in its mill in İzmir Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone.
In the beginning of 2006, tape production which is located in Istanbul, was moved to the factory in İzmir Kemalpaşa with all its machines renewed and its capacity expanded. Currently Ve-Ge produces tape and paper products in İzmir.
