What is GOHSENOL™ (PVOH/PVA)?

GOHSENOL™ (PVOH/PVA) is the brand name of NIPPON GOHSEI's Polyvinyl alcohol. It is a water soluble synthetic resin with excellent adhesive strength, film formability and chemical stability.

Since its foundation in 1927, The Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry Co Ltd, or Nippon Gohsei, has been committed to developing a diverse range of special brand products through its unique know-how in research and process technologies. As a result, GOHSENOL™ products are now highly respected and used in a wide range of application areas, providing indispensable support to the technologies of the future. GOHSENOL™ (PVOH/PVA) is manufactured under a strict quality management system conforming to the ISO 9001 standard in order to meet  the needs and requirements of our customers.

Nichigo G-Polymer™ - amorphous vinyl alcohol resin

Nichigo G-Polymer™, which can be used to freely control crystallinity and the cohesive power of the noncrystalline part, is the next generation of vinyl alcohol resins.
In addition to outstanding transparency and solvent resistance, through the combination of "low crystallinity" with "high hydrogen bonding strength", which are traits that are ordinarily in conflict, this new material realizes functions that had not been possible with conventional PVOH. These include low melting points, high stretching characteristics and high gas barrier performance, as well as low foaming, aqueous solution stability and emulsification performance.

MELFIL™ Water-soluble filament for the fused deposition modeling (FDM)

NIPPON GOHSEI has developed a new water-soluble filament, MELFIL™, for fused deposition modeling (FDM), leveraging the expertise of our company’s highly specialised polyvinyl alcohol (PVA/PVOH) technology.

MELFIL™ is used as the support material for the dual extruder/dual head type of 3D printer. MELFIL™ can easily be removed in cold water with no need to use any harmful solvents. In addition to stable printability and excellent adhesion to ABS, PLA, PET-G, Nylon etc, MELFIL™ also has very low shrink properties.
