The Swedish company Gooh (short for good and healthy) was the very first company to adopt the Micvac method, and it launched a range of premium chilled ready meals back in 2005. Today, they are first again – launching new premium recipes in a two-compartment tray.
Better food with less effort is the motto for this new business area which offers a new way to cook for commercial kitchens, catering and restaurants. The patented Micvac process for in-pack cooking and pasteurisation is now being used within the food service area. The unique reclosable Micvac valve has shown to be very efficient also in steam ovens used in large scale kitchens. The concept has been tested until now mainly in Spain and Sweden and proven very successful allowing new ways of producing and managing the logistics for these companies.
The use of the method allows the production and serving to be independent from one another. Food with a longer and safe shelf life, enables an improved efficiency when it comes to plan the production of the meals, the use of staff and the convenience when heating it up. Less food is thrown away all through the value chain as you only heat up what you actually need. And you can stock meals and components to deal with shortage etc.
Micvac exhibits at Interpack 2017 - The worlds biggest trade fair for the packaging industry and related processing industries
Micvac is, of course, again exhibiting at Interpack to meet old and new contacts. “This fair remains one of our most important occasions to show our processing method and the intelligent packaging concept that goes with it”, states Christina Frohm Kramer, Marketing Director at Micvac. Micvac is expanding over the world with new customers and projects getting launched setting the standard for healthy and convenient food for modern consumers. The Micvac method for in-pack cooking and pasteurisation is a continuous process that allows the producer to save on time, energy, waste and costs in all steps. The extended shelf life enables the producer to plan and be more efficient and it gives the retail the chance to have a wider product range.
The last years have also brought customers and projects not only working with single portion ready meals for the retail business, but also preparing components. “We see an increase in the demand for thermoformed products and pouches”, says Håkan Pettersson, Managing Director at Micvac. “This plus our new developments with two compartment trays, round trays etc give us an even broader portfolio than at the last show.”
