Paper Bags and Paper Sacks

Paper bags and paper sacks have numerous applications, ranging from the packaging of powdered products such as cement (where special self-sealing valves are inserted into the sack during its manufacture) to hermetically sealable sacks for the safe transport of food products and hazardous or odorous substances.

Constantia Afripack has the most modern paper bags and paper sacks plant in Africa. We have invested R100 million in two fully automated Windmoeller & Holscher sack lines – one of which is exclusively dedicated to the manufacture of cement sacks. We also have an outsourced ability for sewn and pinch bottom sacks.

Multi-wall paper sacks are customer-specific and, accordingly, are designed in conjunction with customers and customised for their specific products and filling operations. These sacks are generally manufactured using between one and four plies of sack kraft (brown or bleached) in a wide range of sizes. The outer ply is printed in-line with 2 colours but where additional colours are required, can be pre-printed in up to 8 colours by our Flexible Division.

Our coating/laminating technology allows us to produce complex combinations of kraft paper, polyethylene and aluminium foil to create barrier plies. This both waterproofs and insulates the sack’s contents preserving flavours and containing unpleasant odours and dangerous chemicals.

We already enjoy sole and/or preferred supplier status with several blue chip customers and are planning for continued growth in this market. If you would like someone from our Paper Sacks division to contact you please mail sacks(at)afripack.co.za
