AP-PAK Range

AP-PAK desiccant bags are made of a selection of non-woven films and contain activated clay which is naturally sourced, safe and inert. These products are completely free of heavy metals and DMF (dimethyl fumarate) and they are produced according to DIN 55473 and MIL-D4364-E standards. The AP-PAK range of products is utilised in the following sectors:

  • Machine tools
  • Data processing plant
  • Optical and precision instruments
  • Electronic equipment
  • Food industry
  • Chemicals
  • Military components
  • Leather goods
  • Pharmaceuticals
The AP-PAK range of products are used in “AIR-PROOF” containers, where they reduce the relative humidity of the container air down to 1% – 2%, protecting your moisture sensitive goods during their transport or in storage for up to 3 months.

The size of the desiccant bag is measured in units. One desiccant unit is equal to the amount of drying agent capable of adsorbing a minimum of 3g at 20% relative humidity (RH) and 6g at 40% RH of water vapour at an air temperature of 23°C (±2°C) within 24 hours. We currently produce 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 unit desiccant bags.

Refer to the usage table below to choose the size of desiccant bag best suited to your air-tight package.

Please contact our sales engineer who will assist you in choosing a product to suit your requirements, and in order to help us with your product choice please have the following information available:

  • The external dimensions of your package (length x width x height).
  • The type of film used for sealing your package, it’s thickness and it’s moisture penetration ratio.
  • The protection duration required (months).

AP-SORB Range

The AP-SORB range of products or Container Dry Bags are made of a selectıon of non-woven films and contain a mixture of two agents in a specific ratio. The first agent, the desiccant agent, removes moisture from the air and converts it into a liquid phase. The second agent absorbs this liquid phase and retains it, sometimes in gel form.

These products are completely free of heavy metals and DMF (dimethyl fumarate) and are used in the following sectors:

  • Machine tools
  • Chemicals
  • Data processing plant
  • Military components
  • Optical and precision instruments
  • Leather goods
  • Electronic equipment
  • Food industry
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Marble and minerals
The AP-SORB range of products are used to control the dew point of the air within transport containers. When the relative humidity (RH) of the air within a container reaches 100% (the dew point), condensation occurs,  and water begins to fall and settle on your product; a process known as “container rain”. See the adjacent animation:

The AP-SORB products can prevent this “container rain”, and therefore prevent any corrosion or moisture damage to your product for up to 3 months even when your product is NOT transported or stored in air-tight containers! The products can adsorb over 50% of their weight at 25°C and 80% RH. Please view the graph of water adsorbtion over time for a typical AP-SORB product.

The products are very simple to use. They are preferably hung onto the side of the container with their intrinsic hooks, they can be placed under your product pallets, they can even be placed on top of your product, and they will still operate effectively.

The AP-SORB bags must be placed at various locations around the container to give maximum protection to your product, and preferably at the highest point nearest to the container ceiling, as moist air is lighter than dry air! Generally for a 20’ container 20 AP-PAK 1kg bags would be required and likewise 40 bags in a 40’ container. However, if your turnover of containers is high then fewer bags can be used if the AP-SORB 2kg option is used reducing material and handling cost.

However, the usage can vary depending on your product to be protected. For example if your product contains its own moisture (e.g. flour, dry seeds, hazel nuts, etc.) then the usage must be increased by up to 50%. Alternatively the AP-SORB 500g product is also available for smaller containers with packaged volumes of 1m³ upwards. Please contact our sales engineer who will assist you in choosing a product to suit your requirements.

Bulk Products

Our bulk products can be supplied in sea container lots or as individual big bags.

Customers can be supplied on an  FOT, FOB or C&F basis.

Order details (including amounts, qualities and delivery status) can be tracked by our customers through our website, allowing them to manage their inventories and production more efficiently.

As a producer of end user desiccant bags, we understand the importance of using raw materials with a consistently high quality. Your product is only as good as the raw materials you use and the desiccant clay granule is paramount amongst them.

After examination of hundreds of clay sources over the last 20 years, our team have developed a calcium monmorillonite deposit, which on processing generates a product with the following characteristics:

  • Very high adsorption capacity (min. 18.0% after 8 hours @ 25°C and 40% RH)
  • High packing density (min. 925 g/l)
  • Low moisture and dust free (max.1% moisture and max 1% < 750 µm dust)
  • Very low iron content (typical 1.5% Fe₂O₃)
Products of different granulometry can be supplied. Both our standard grade (1.8mm to 4.0mm), and our fine grade (500µm to 1.8mm) have very narrow PSD’s giving them optimum performance in pneumatic transport systems.

The bulk product is packaged in palletized big bags and dispatched via sea container. Individual big bags can also be sent by road truck if necessary. Customers can be supplied on an FOT, FOB or C&F basis depending on customer preference.

For all bulk shipments, customers will be able to monitor the progress of their order via our customer log-in which will supply them with all order details, dispatch and ETA dates, individual big bag qualities and any export documentation details. As well as download quality reports for individual orders, customers will also be able to monitor their order history and any pending orders enabling them to manage their clay inventory in transit and before it has been dispatched!
