About us

Company details

In 1976 Rienk Dijkstra, at this time working for Stork Plastics Machinery in Hengelo, got approached by Jo Bekkers, co-founder and former owner of Beckers Snacks BV, known for the meatballs. Together they create the idea to start a factory to produce plastics packaging containers for the food industry. Jo Bekkers provides the commercial contacts and starting capital while Rienk Dijkstra takes the technical implementation and production for its account. And thus a new factory named Bekkers and Dijkstra B.V. was established in May 1977.

After some minor startup startup hurdles, the company rapidly grows and in 1980 the first expansion is realized. Meanwhile Rienks’ wife, Mieke Dijkstra, joins the company with complete dedication and huge enthusiasm. She takes a major role in the further development by taking care of the administration, purchasing, sales and human resources. The company is growing steadily under the inspiring leadership of Rienk and Mieke Dijkstra. Jo Bekkers realizes he can withdraw from the company and in 1987 Rienk Dijksta becomes the sole owner and the company name changes to Dijkstra Plastics B.V.

In order to also be able to provide the printing on the containers, Dijkstra Plastics invest in their first printing machines. The packaging containers are no longer produced for only the food industry, but increasingly find their way into the paint and plastering industry aswell into the floral market.

In 1988, Dijkstra Plastics buys the neighboring property of “Hassink Printing” and converts the property into offices to accompany the growing staff and sales team. Not much later another expansion is realized, with the current production facility in Haaksbergen now covering a sheer 20.000 m2.

The maintenance and construction of injection moulds is becoming a growing problem with the increasing product range. To solve the issue Dijkstra Plastics builds his own mould making division. With acquired staff from Gemavo B.V. and brand new purchased equipment for the metalworking workshop, all of the maintenance and construction of injection molds is now done within the company.

In 2008 the production facility of Dijkstra Plastics gets a massive transformation. And increased production capacity is realized together with optimal logistics and the construction of a complete new office. Since the realization of this project, the office building of Dijkstra Plastics B.V. has become the eyecatcher of the industrial area ‘t Vark.
