NEW ISHIDA ENTRY LEVEL CHECKWEIGHER - engineered to meet hygienic clean down requirements.

Ishida has launched an enhanced version of its entry-level checkweigher suited for environments where dust and water may be present and where frequent clean down is required.

The latest version of the company’s DACS-GN-SE-WP waterproof economy checkweighers is now manufactured to IP65 certification, meaning the checkweigher is able to withstand challenging environments and stringent cleaning requirements while maintaining high speeds and pinpoint accuracy.  This makes it ideal for a wide variety of applications including fresh salads, chilled meats and frozen products.

The new model features a rugged and durable construction with comprehensive sealing throughout to protect all working parts.  An improved conveyor system prevents water or other liquids becoming trapped underneath, with special channels that divert them away.  In addition, conveyors and belts are easy to remove for thorough cleaning and re-assembly.

The checkweigher can also be combined with an advanced metal detector that incorporates a detection head able to operate to maximum sensitivity in high moisture and salt content environments.

The DACS-GN-SE-WP continues to offer all the key benefits of the DACS-GN-SE

SS model, combining exceptional speed and accuracy at an affordable price.  The checkweigher features an intuitive and robust display with easy to learn menu structure for quick set up and operator training.   The machine retains its open frame design that provides easy cleaning and maintenance.   Two models are available, monitoring weights up to 1.2kg and 5kg.

The checkweigher can be fitted with Ishida RRC (Retailer Reject Confirmation) to help food manufacturers meet the latest retail codes of practice.  It is also available with Ishida’s pioneering Ishida Data Capture System (IDCS II), a powerful software that captures the data from every pack that passes across the checkweigher and generates real-time displays and reports which focus attention on major cost-saving opportunities.

Ishida Europe has boosted performance and increased the number of models in its market leading mid-range multihead weighers to deliver faster and more accurate weighing solutions for an even wider variety of applications including sticky products.

The new RVE Series has been expanded to include 24-head models alongside 10, 14, 16 and 20 head variants.  It also now features Powerful Frequency Controlled Vibration (PFCV), the advanced Ishida technology previously only available on the company’s premium range of multihead weighers.

The introduction of 60 new 24 head models with additional booster hoppers to the RVE Series means Ishida can offer up to 6 mix applications in its mid-range weighers. This is ideal for customers who may not need the fastest possible speeds but still require high quality control for multi-section weighing and guaranteed mix weighing accuracy.

Ishida’s PFCV technology provides more power for unrivalled feed control of product from the top of the weigher to the hoppers.  By being able to automatically vary the amplitude and now also the frequency of vibration to achieve resonance, both the power and control can be fine-tuned.  This ensures a steady and consistent feed of even the most challenging products.

Such controlled product feed is critical to achieve good weight combinations.

Without PFCV, weaker control means hoppers are sometimes over-filled or starved of product resulting in poor combinations being available.  To overcome this and maintain throughput, other weighers would require the weight limit settings to be increased but this would lead to excessive product giveaway.

The introduction of PFCV enables the latest RVE models to handle sticky and bulky products with greater ease.  Another benefit of the technology is that the machine can immediately be ‘retuned’ for different product types and weights via the weigher’s remote control unit.  This retuning feature also means maximum performance can be retained throughout the lifetime of the machine instead of the need for expensive and time-consuming mechanical adjustments due to fatiguing components.

Combined with existing advanced features such as 5 stage digital filtering of Ishida load cell signals and automatic feeder adjustment, the reinvigorated RVE range offers competitive and consistent single outlet speeds of up to 120 weighments per minute and can be specified for up to 6 mix or multiple outlets.

All models are available with a wide selection of feeder parts, single and double opening hoppers (from 1.5 to 7 litres) and different discharge chute designs as well as materials and coating options and are supported by Ishida’s large team of software and control specialists. This ensures every weigher can be tailored to individual customer product requirements, from small to large target weights and free flowing to sticky products, and to a wide variety of production line interfaces.  The high-processing speed ROHS-compliant RCU offers intuitive simple-to-use controls for fast set-up and adjustments.

RVE weighers also incorporate as standard the Reporting Pack from Ishida’s pioneering Sentinel™ remote customer care software that supports the new generation of ‘smart’ factories as part of Industry 4.0.  This provides customers with real time remote access to machine performance and reports. Additional Sentinel™ packs can be specified for further protection and support, including remote monitoring and preventative and proactive intervention by Ishida Europe engineers.

Other options include ‘moisture sensor’ and ‘temperature sensors’ for RVE waterproof models that provide live monitoring of moisture ingress or extreme temperatures during production.  This allows fast intervention to protect companies against unscheduled downtime, reducing cost of ownership and extending machine life.

A key message throughout the stand will be how Ishida’s integrated packing line solutions can help improve efficiencies while minimising waste, reducing overall machine footprint and delivering valuable energy savings. Equally important, Ishida will demonstrate how its latest equipment is able to cope with alternative packaging materials as food manufacturers seek to move away from plastic and also the important role that high quality, fully inspected packs can play in the reduction of food and packaging waste.

The weighing area will showcase Ishida’s capabilities in handling a huge variety of applications.  Models on show include solutions for the fast and accurate weighing of fresh protein, salads, sticky, breakable items and granular products such as sugar and powders, as well as a machine for weighing small target weights at ultra-high speeds and a top-of-the-range 32 head model capable of handling up to eight different products simultaneously.  Another innovation is the company’s ‘sugar extraction’ multihead weigher that has been designed to prevent sugar compromising pack seals at extremely fast speeds and with Ishida weight accuracy.

Within the Quality Control / Inspection area, Ishida will show a completely new range of X-ray machine options for detecting low to high density foreign bodies in both packaged and unpackaged bulk flow formats. The hygienically designed machines and options will display a number of new features including easy to clean surfaces and easy to remove reject bins.

In particular, Ishida will showcase its premium, high sensitivity IX-GN-4044 / 4043 models in both packaged and bulk format along with the low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) IX-EN-4093 with drop belt reject. Also on display will be its IX-GN-5523 for large size products and pack sizes, which further extends Ishida’s market-leading selection of X-ray inspection systems. The GN-5523 offers an ideal solution for the inspection of euro crates and cases, and large packs of food or non-food items up to 30kgs. Ishida’s unique GA technology enables operators to optimise the x-ray system for greater sensitivity in the detection of specific low-density foreign bodies.

Ishida will also display a new range of checkweighers based on a new advanced electronic architecture that offers improved speeds and accuracies and enhanced touch screen interfaces across the board.

New checkweigher models include the mid-range DACS-GN-S080, which is MID compliant and offers exceptional speeds and accuracies at an affordable price in the monitoring of packs up to 8kg in weight.  It features a control unit with an intuitive, easy-to-learn menu for fast operator training and quick set-up. Also on display will be a new top-of-the-range force balance checkweigher that delivers pinpoint accuracy and incorporates Ishida’s RRC (Retail Reject Confirmation) software and hardware which checks and confirms that any out-of-spec product or pack has been successfully removed from the production and packing line.  Another model on display, designed to handle cartons and cases on an entry level platform, further underlines the extensive choice of Ishida checkweighers in terms of performance and price.

In addition, the Quality Control / Inspection area will be showcasing a range of leak detection systems that includes the award-winning Ishida AirScan which can detect leaks of CO2 from holes as small as 0.25mm in MAP packs at speeds of up to 180ppm.  For non-MAP packaging there will also be a pressure seal tester (QC220) with vision technology on display that offers both leak detection at high speeds along with label monitoring.

In addition, the Ishida stand will highlight the company’s wide-ranging capabilities and expertise in full line solutions for protein and snacks.

The new Ishida QX-900 is a high-performance tray sealer with a larger tool for enhanced performance, in particular its ability to handle MAP cardboard trays with the most efficient use of air and gases.  The machine is capable of up to 15 MAP cycles per minute and combines excellent seal quality and pack presentation with fast changeovers.

Ishida’s protein solutions will include a QX-775 tray sealer with skin-on-board technology, sealing product onto flat cardboard; and the unique IX-G2 X-ray inspection system capable of detecting wish, rib and fan bones in poultry fillets.  The IX-G2 will also be in operation in conjunction with the Ishida Robotgrader which combines contamination detection, weighing and precise positional information for the pick and place technologies to grade protein products of varying weight and pack them to a fixed weight straight into the tray.

Impressively three snacks packing lines will confirm Ishida’s world leadership in this area, demonstrating fully integrated solutions for the feeding, weighing, packing, inspection and case packing of pillow packs, including paper format packs.  Ishida equipment on show includes its advanced RV multihead weigher and next generation Inspira bagmaker combination, TSC-RS sealtester, DACS force balance checkweigher, IX-GN-2443 x-ray inspection system, ACP 700 case packer and a DACS-GN Carton checkweigher.
