DPD goes green: shipping becomes sustainable with hey circle!

Reusable instead of disposable – this is what’s happening now at DPD Germany! The country's second largest shipping service provider has opted for the innovative reusable shipping packaging from hey circle. 

Why it makes sense to switch to reusable packaging!

DPD handles more than 350 million parcels every year. That means a lot of packaging waste. To counteract, the company now employs the reusable boxes and bags from hey circle. The benefits: less waste and less CO₂. he packaging reduces the ecological footprint and saves a lot of money, thanks to multiple use.

Sustainability meets innovation

“Our partnership with hey circle is another important step on the way to more sustainable parcel shipping,” says Dr. Karsten Schwarz, CEO of DPD Germany. “We want to offer our customers innovative, environmentally friendly solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into their existing shipping processes. The reusable shipping bags from hey circle are a perfect addition to our portfolio.” 

Innovative packaging solutions that pay off

The reusable boxes and bags from hey circle, a Munich-based start-up specializing in reusable shipping packaging, can withstand up to 50 tours – not just between companies and their customers, but also for internal shipments. This could be particularly interesting for retailers with high return rates, as the packaging makes the frequent reordering of disposable materials obsolete. 

A successful test run

DPD Germany and hey circle already proved last year that this innovation works. In a test run, 200 XL boxes were transported back and forth between the clothing manufacturer Trigema and its stores. According to the companies, the trial was a success: less waste, lower costs and easy integration into existing logistics processes. “Our vision at hey circle is clear: we want to make the shipping of parcels waste-free and sustainable. The partnership with DPD is an important step towards achieving this goal. We look forward to gaining lighthouse customers together with DPD and further establishing reusable shipping in the logistics sector,” says Doris Diebold, founder of hey circle.

How does returnable shipping work?

Companies that work with hey circle do not pay a deposit – a return label is included with the parcel. The packaging is returned empty and folded, or filled with goods, via the DPD courier or at one of the drop-off points. Back at the warehouse, the packaging is checked, cleaned and made ready for another use.
